Perthshire Advertiser online

The Perthshire Advertiser is one of those rare beasts: a twice-weekly newspaper. It’s sold in Perthshire and neighbouring areas, from Kinross in the south to Pitlochry in the north.

It was founded in 1828 by printers and publishers J. Taylor as The Perthshire Advertiser, and Strathmore Journal, but adopted its present title in 1833. It incorporated the 1835 foundation the Perthshire Constitutional & Journal in 1951.

It’s now published by Media Scotland (formerly Scottish & Universal Newspapers), a branch of Trinity Mirror. The editorial offices are in Perth. A sister title, the Blairgowrie Advertiser, covers East Perthshire.

It lost its own website at perthshireadvertiser.co.uk in 2013 when Media Scotland consolidated all its newspapers’ websites to share that of the Daily Record and Sunday Mail.

It comes out on Tuesdays and Fridays. The Friday edition has about twice the circulation of the Tuesday one.
