Opportunities abound for companies, especially small businesses, to advertise their products via the Internet. According to an August, 2011 "The New York Times " article on using social media to advertise, only one in 1, 000 Internet users click on an actual ad to view its contents. Advertisers are finding new ways to advertise and promote their products utilizing social media, key words and websites.
Step 1
Design an appropriate website for your company that includes all of the products and services your company has available. Keep your website is rich with keywords. For example, a website for couches would include key words that Internet users might search. If your company specializes in leather couches or sectional couches include those words in the first paragraph on your site.
Step 2
Make your site user-friendly with easily navigated tabs and links. Include important phone numbers and contact information for easy access for customers. All roads lead to and from the website. It is the foundation of any Internet advertising campaign.

Step 3
Set up a Facebook page that can be accessed from your website and vice versa. Make your profile page count. Transparency is key for Facebook users. Anything that looks inauthentic will be rejected by users. Use Facebook to promote an event that company is sponsoring. Facebook event pages are free and can be shared among users. Don't wait for customers to find you. Make a list of names of customers with Facebook accounts and invite them to join and share your page.
Step 4
Consider using a Twitter account. Twitter unlike Facebook has messages that are short, sweet and frequent. Having a sale? Tweet about it. Request customers to follow you on Twitter and reward them. Use the Twitter search options to find potential customers who use the types of products you sell. Invite customers to share their experiences with your products via Twitter.
Step 5
Create free listings for your company on sites like Google Business, Yahoo Local and Bing Local Listing Center. Always include all contact information on these listings and a direct link to your website. Ask satisfied customers to provide detailed reviews or your products or services and reward them for doing so.
