Domestic digital advertising revenue surged 23% to $15 billion in the third quarter of 2015, the sector's highest quarterly spending on record, beating the previous high set during the same quarter last year, the Interactive Advertising Bureau said Thursday.
"These landmark figures confirm marketers' confidence in using digital to reach consumers, " Randall Rothenberg, President and CEO, IAB, said in a statement.
The news might not come as a surprise to many. Back in October, the IAB reported that for the first half of 2015, digital advertising revenue hit a record high of $27.5 billion. The fastest growing segment was mobile, where revenue climbed 54% to $8.2 billion during the first half of 2015.
"Brands and agencies are focusing ever more attention on interactive screens, following consumers as they flock to digital platforms to be entertained, engaged, and informed, " said Sherrill Mane, senior VP, research, analytics and measurement, IAB.
The latest top-line figures from the IAB were not not accompanied by detailed breakdowns on mobile and other areas. Those figures are set to be released in the IAB's end of the year report.
The IAB Internet Advertising Revenue Report is conducted by PwC's New Media Group. The survey includes data concerning online advertising revenue from web sites, commercial online services, free e-mail providers and other companies selling online advertising, the IAB said.
